After making big decisions on your wedding, the next choice you have to make is where you want to spend your honeymoon. This can be a difficult decision, with so many romantic destinations around the world that are not only luxurious, but beautiful and sometimes downright breathtaking. How do you ever choose? To help get you started, here is a brief overview of ten of the world’s top honeymoon destinations.
Turks and Caicos Islands
The tropical Turks and Caicos are comprised of forty different islands and cays, and are just a short flight from the East Coast, and are known for their diving, snorkeling and fishing. Providenciales is the most well known of the Turks and Caicos islands, and offers a variety of resorts, hotels, villas, restaurants and attractions. On the north shore of the island, you can stay at the boutique Point Grace Resort, for example, which provides stunning views of the famous Grace Bay Beach which is nearly twelve miles long. Or opt for the all-inclusive Beaches Resort, a Sandals property, where you’ll have nineteen restaurants to choose from as well as a wealth of water sport activities such as windsurfing, boating, and scuba diving.
This location is in the southern region of Africa, although a bit far for many of us to travel, is perfect for a romantic interlude. For example, staying in one of the ten luxury desert tents at Jack’s Camp, a unique desert camp in the Great Kalahari area, will give you expansive views of the prehistoric Makgadikgadi salt pans and Africa’s abundant wildlife, including rare Brown Hyena sightings. You’ll enjoy horseback riding and walking safaris in which you’ll interact with the Meerkats, and elegant candlelit dinners with wine.
Porto is best known for its Port wine which is shipped all over the world. However, it’s also known for its heritage, and is home to ancient churches and monuments, such as the Cathedral and the Church of São Francisco, and its modern buildings, such as Casa da Música and the Serralves Museum. In Porto you’ll enjoy delectable cuisine. While staying at the Yeatman Hotel Wine Spa, for example, widely regarded as one of the premiere hotels in Porto, you can sample lavish tasting wines and indulge in delicious meals. At this serene hotel, you’ll have plenty of quiet time with your new spouse while enjoying views of the city of Porto, and the Douro River, which is a popular river cruise destination.
The Maldive Islands, located in the Indian Ocean, are a dream honeymoon paradise. With exquisite crystal clear water and white sand beaches, the Maldives are a remote and stuningly beautiful destination for a honeymoon. If you’d like to get a taste of four islands and are short on time, Norwegian Cruise Line’s Pride of America sails from Honolulu year-round on a seven-day cruise with stops in Kahului, Hilo, Kona, and Nawiliwili.
This is one of the top islands to visit in the world with its spectacular scenery of ocean, beautiful beaches, ancient ruins and an active volcano.
